Where will the massage take place?
Your massage will take place in the therapist’s room, a warm, comfortable, quiet place. Soft music will be played to help you relax even more. You will lie on a massage table specifically designed for your comfort.
Do I have to be completely disrobed?
Most massage techniques are traditionally performed with the client unclothed; however it is your decision with what you choose to wear or not wear during your massage. You should undress to your level of comfort. You will be properly draped during the entire session. You will only be uncovered when the massage therapist is massaging a specific area and then covered back up.
Will the massage therapist be in the room while I disrobe?
No, the massage therapist will leave the room while you get undressed to your comfort level and give you a few minutes to relax on the table under the sheets and blanket. The massage therapist will then knock on the door and make sure you are ready before re-entering the room.
What part of my body will be massaged?
You and your massage therapist will discuss beforehand what kind of massage you are looking for, what areas you do and don’t want worked on, and what areas you want more focus to be on. A typical full-body massage will include work on your head, face, neck, shoulders, arms, hands, legs, feet, hips/glutes (over the sheet), and back.
How long will the massage session last?
The average full-body massage lasts for approximately one hour. A 30 minute appointment only allows time for a partial massage session, such as neck and shoulders, back or legs and feet. A lot of people prefer a 60 or 90 minute massage for optimal relaxation.
What should I do during the massage?
Relax and make yourself comfortable. The massage therapist will either gently move you or tell you what is needed throughout the massage (such as turning over). Most people like to relax and close their eyes the entire time and other people like to talk, whichever suits you best. Just let the massage therapist know if something isn’t to your liking, such as the music being too loud or too soft, or if you are too warm or not warm enough. This is your massage, so please do not hesitate to let us know whether something could be changed to help you get the most out of your massage session.
